Empirical Articles: Welcome

To be used with Dr. Manuel's PSYC classes or any class needing to find an empirical article

Welcome

This guide will help you locate an article that contains empirical research. First, you must have a topic in mind before searching the database. This will allow your articles to be of a specific topic and will narrow your results significantly. Look at the "Getting Started" tab to assist you with deciding on a topic.

You are to read and analyze an empirical article. How can you recognize an empirical article while searching in a database? An empirical research article reports research based on actual observation or experimentation. The research may use quantitative research methods or qualitative research methods. Look at the "Finding Empirical Sources" tab to see how to conduct your database search.

In the Behavioral Sciences, Sciences, and Engineering these are known as primary sources because they are original studies written by the researchers.
