PSYC B1A: Psychological Disorders: Welcome

This LibGuiide was created for Professor Young-Gomez's Psychological Disorders Writing Assignment.

Psychological Disorders Writing Assignment Guidelines

  • You must identify and discuss the following points in your paper:
    • Name and brief description of the disorder
    • Main symptoms (remember to touch upon cognitive, behavioral, and emotional realms of which are our focus for this class)
    • Prevalence rates
    • A case illustration from a celebrity account, personal account, or other source to demonstrate how the symptoms may appear in an actual patient.
    • A brief summary of the most effective and evidence-based treatment methods for this disorder.

  • This assignment requires that you utilize a minimum of three (3) different reference sources.  You are allowed to use our textbook as one source of information; however, you are encouraged to use other sources of reference material (i.e., scholarly books or articles) that you can find at the library. Do not use Wikipedia, Psychology Today, or another social media site that is aimed at the average layperson.  Be sure that you correctly cite (in APA style) any reference materials within the body of your paper and on your Reference Page.
    • This paper must be a minimum of two (2) FULL pages in length and a maximum of four (4) pages.  It should include a Title Page and a Reference page which do not count in the page totals required of this assignment.
