ENGL B1A: Incarceration Nations: Welcome

This guide focuses on the book Incarceration Nations and topics related to it such as: the school-to-prison pipeline, racism in law enforcement, the War on Drugs, and the prison industrial complex. It was created for Professor Alexander's ENGL B1A course.


This LibGuide will help you find sources on mass incarceration and the U.S. prison system, in addition to global prison systems. It also has sources for Japanese-American Internment Camps during WWII.  Click through the tabs to get started!

For Professor Alexander's class: 
  • You need at least 2 sources for Paper 2, and at least 5 sources for Paper 3.
  • Sources must be credible (preferably a book or a scholarly journal article)
  • You may use one .gov internet source per paper
