The resources on this page are primarily meant as a portal to finding and using newspaper articles for BC business class assignments through the BC Library databases.
Staying informed of current news and events is very important for business students. Regardless of which industry you will work in, you are likely to face an ever-changing environment. Your knowledge of current events can affect your ability to navigate your career by helping you identify threats and opportunities in your field. Students should aim to read news from various sources and points of view, including newspapers, industry journals, professional organizations, websites, social media, podcasts, blogs, and more. As an example, RSS feeds from a few major newspapers are included. There are many news aggregator apps and sites available, and RSS feeds can be added to individual needs and preferences.
You can find newspaper databases by choosing A-Z databases on the library webpage, then change the dropdown selection for All Database Types to News.
Note: America's News is a great database to start with. It has a large selection of "Business and Economics" and "Trending Issues" preselected topics to explore. It is also where you can access all articles in the current Bakersfield Californian.
NOTE: The papers in this database are subject to embargos which differ by publication. You can alternatively access the New York Times through our Gale database.
You can read or browse entire issues of top business magazines and journals in our databases. Here are some links to get you started (click the most current issue to see the list of articles):
