Evaluating Sources with the DAPPR Test: Author

This guide helps you learn how to evaluate your sources by using a tool called the DAPPR Test.

The next step in DAPPR is to score your author on a scale of 1-3 based on the criteria above. If your source has multiple authors, it's best to score all of them, but your professor may allow you to only score the first author listed.

You need to find out: 

  • Who wrote this information and why are they an expert on this topic?
  • Are there any author credentials given in this source? If there are none, you will need to look up the author to find out their credentials. Find out how to do this in the videos below.
